A week of happy #7

1. My friends – being home this weekend I was able to meet up for coffee with someone who means an awful lot to me. It was so so lovely to see her, catch up, have a laugh, and just chat – sometimes I think she knows me better than I know myself, I'm so glad to have people like her in my life. I also got to see my best friend and so that’s always hilarious (especially when he dances around a car park).

2, “I’m in my mums car, broom broom” – if you’ve seen this video then you’ll completely know what I’m talking about. If you’ve been living under a rock, here’s a link to it for you. I’m obsessed with it, and all the little things that have come from it. I tweeted about it a few days ago and it was RT’d by someone; within a few hours it had reached 200+ favourites. (thisis link to that tweet)

3. Laughing – I’ve spent this weekend with my grandparents and we like to play cards (a lot). It’s so funny and my Grandad and I have such a similar sense of humour that we just feed off of each other’s energy. At one stage I was on the floor crying my eyes out over a little joke – it was a ‘you had to be there’ moment, so I won’t bore you! I actually felt sick after laughing so hard which very rarely happens.

4. Not being hot in bed – it’s been ridiculously hot in the UK recently, but for the past few nights I’ve actually been able to snuggle down in to my duvet which is blissful!

5. Coffee – it’s such a comfort for me and with it being cooler I’ve been able to enjoy it a lot more which I’m super happy about. I like mine white with 1.5 sugars (the .5 really does make the difference!).

6. Greek yoghurt – it’s healthy and taste amazing! I love the one’s with the fruit compot as it just gives it a little extra flavour and sweetness.

7. Josh Record’s new album ‘Pillars’ – perfect for the summer. It’s light and airy and just the perfect accompaniment to any good summer chill-out day. My favourite song is definitely “Find Her Way To Me”. His voice is so velvety and gorgeous! It does good things to my soul.

8. Pinterest – I know I said it quite recently, but boy-oh-boy I’m hooked. Seriously I cannot even find words to describe how in love I am with it. It’s the first thing I do when I wake up, the last thing I do before I go to bed. Whenever I am bored I just find myself pinning away inspirational quotes, or funny meme’s, bedroom décor, and wedding ideas (I’m single – not getting married any time soon. Is it ever too early though?).

9. Quotes – it kind of links back to the Pinterest thing, but I’ve always been a sucker for a good quote. I’ve been feeling pretty lost for the past few weeks they definitely help ground me, and I find they just make things make sense.

10. Having some ‘me’ time – I didn’t post anything over the weekend for a few reasons. One of the main reasons is that I just needed a bit of a break and to get in touch with my reality again. I adore writing and so I’m never going to give it up. It’s just that from time to time you need a bit of R&R time. There’s nothing wrong with being a little selfish after all.

(ps, I’m now back with vengeance)

A week of happy #6

1. Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran - it's the perfect summers evening song. His whole new album is incredible, but this one in particular is just mesmerising.

2. Painting my nails - I've always been pretty boring when it comes to my nails with just one colour and maybe the odd accent nail. But this week I've been experimenting more with gradual effects etc, I'm not very good yet...

3. Barbecues - I'm almost certain that I said this last week, but today we had another little family BBQ and it was such good company and food - which leads me on to the next thing...

4. Pistachio ice cream - we had this today at our BBQ, it's from Lidl. It tastes like vanilla ice-cream and almonds. It is SO good. You have to try it!

5. Candles - with it being so hot lately, I haven't quite been able to face the warmth of a candle. However, I've been adoring my candle's lately, I mainly use them in the evening time whilst I'm drinking herbal tea and writing.

6. My bed - need I say more.

7. Reading - as you saw in yesterday's post, I've been adoring reading this book. It's the perfect summer romance story. Blissful.

8. Late nights outside gazing at the stars - I don't think I've ever felt more wonder-struck. It's so peaceful; I just spend the time thinking and being really philosophical. I'm in complete love with it.

9. VINE - I've genuinely never laughed so much in ages. If I'm ever feeling down then I'll look for funny vines and those 6 seconds or so will cheer me up no end!

10. The kind words of people - whether it be my friends, or the comments I get on my blog. It makes me feel so loved when I get lovely comments or good genuine advice friends. I'm a sentimental little thing and so kind words really do make my day one hundred times better!

11. Poetry - I've always loved writing/reading/everything about poetry. I find it so cathartic and it just makes me feel so happy. It's hard to explain, I love writing so much - any kind of writing. But poetry just does things to my heart that I cannot describe. I adore the freedom, the story you can tell and the beauty of the words that you carefully place amongst each other to change a simple word in to a piece of lyrical art.

Oh you lucky devils, you got eleven things out of me this week!

What's made you happy this week? xx

A week of happy #5

1. The weather - quite simply it has been glorious. A mixture of everything, the sun has shone, and there have been dramatic downpours, thunder and lightening - it's just been a right ol' mixed bag.

2. Making changes - I'm fully aware this could sound a little callous - trust me it's not meant to. But this past week I decided that it was time to focus on making myself happier and some things just weren't working out. So even though I know other people were affected by the changes I made, I knew they had to be made for everyone involved to be happier - there's no need to carry on being unhappy just for the sake of it after all!

3. PINTEREST - I love this, so bloody much I can't even tell you. I've only just properly got in to it but I'm already a bit hooked. You can follow me here and see me pin pretty pictures/quotes and lots and lots of peonies!

4. Barbecue's - Friday night we had a little barbecue and it was just heavenly - burgers, sausages and salad galore! It's just the most perfect addition to a beautiful summers evening.

5. Walking around the golf course - my Mum has recently taken up golf as a hobby, therefore to spend ANY time with her I have to accompany her around the 9 hole. No, in all honesty I love it. In the evening I stroll around the course bare-footed and take in the gorgeous scenery and evening breeze, it's blissful (until she hits you with a golf club that is... yes, it's really happened!).

6. Brownies - in my blogpost yesterday I spoke all about these, so I won't go off on one again about them, just trust my honest opinion that they are the best thing I have ever put in my mouth (insert dirty-minded pun here...).

7. Dresses - yes, I got my legs out IN PUBLIC on Friday and I did not currrr. It was so nice to just get 'um out and get a bit of sun on them. The dress I wore was this one and it's served me very well so far!

8. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging soundtrack - I adored the film, and even though it's a few years old now, I still the soundtrack is perfect for a summers day! It makes me such a happy little chappy :)

9. Mary Berry's salad dressing - can I please get a hallelujah for this stuff. It transforms any salad in to the best darn thing I've ever eaten (apart from the brownies, obviously!). I got mine from Tesco's, but I'm sure they sell it all over. SRSLY, get some, it this one if you're interested.

10. Sunsets - I mentioned earlier that the weather has been perfect, well so has some of the beautiful sunsets we've had - this is just one of them and I am completely in awe of it. It makes me feel really reflective and humble for everyone and everything I have in my life.
I've feel like I've been so sassy in this post, it's just because I'm very very content and happy right at this moment <3
What's made you happy this week? xx

A week of happy #4

1. The sunshine - the weather in the UK has been a bit hit and miss this week, but the rainy moments have made the sunny ones 1million times nicer.

2. Walking around the golf course with my mum - my mum has become quite the little golfer and so to spend any time with her I have to follow her around the 9 hole at our local golf course. It's beautiful though, and especially in this weather and drawn out nights there's nothing better than walking bare foot through the grass.

3. Coconut Records 'West Coast' - this song just represents summer, and whenever I'm on a bit of a downer I just play it loudly and everything is right again with the world.

4. Afternoon tea - On Friday I went to a local hotel and had the most beautiful afternoon tea ever; I won't say too much because there will be an accompanying blog-post on tuesday...

5. Signing up to an online course - I've been looking for something to fill my summer for a while - alongside blogging that is - and it seems as if I've now found it. I found the deal on WOWcher for an Criminal Profiling course, and thought it works quite well with my degree and I get a level 3 qualification at the end of it. It was a steal at just £29 instead of £220 - I'll possibly update you on that as and when things happen!

6. Toast - simple, quick and easy; I've been obsessed with oaty wholewheat toast and butter lately. Perfect for breakfast and just a small snack throughout the day.

7. Orange Is The New Black #OITNB - I've only just got in to this, I'm still not fully on the bandwagon yet. But I was watching the other night and just completely laughing out loud. I have a feeling it's going to be a new favourite of mine.

8. Rosé wine - I'm not the biggest drinker by a long shot, but I've loved the occaisonal glass of wine whilst sat outside soaking in the beautiful evening sunshine.

9. Instagram - I've become somewhat in love with this social media platform this past week. Check mine out if you haven't already... @jemmainwords... plug plug plug.

10. Staying in my home town with my grandparents - as you read this I'm currently their now enjoying their company and all the familiarities of home. Since moving away, I've come to understand just how lovely it is to be back there and around the things and people close to my heart.

A week of happy #3

1. Catching the train again - it's super simple I know, but I hated catching trains alone for longer than I could remember. But after catching one a few weeks ago I realised it wasn't even that bad. Now I feel confident to catch them whenever I need to without the stress of worrying about it for days in advance. I conquered my fear!

2. Spotify - I used to spend far too much money on iTunes each month, so when I realised it would be cheaper for me to get Spotify Premium I jumped at the chance. To say that I love it is probably the biggest understatement ever. I love that I can have such a vast array of music literally at my fingertips, and make so many of my own playlists for any type of event/mood.

3. Meeting Adele - kind of anyway... if you saw my post yesterday then you'll know that I went to Madame Tussauds where I got the closest I'll probably ever be to my Queen - ahhh! #sadalert

4. Seeing a show on the West-End - it's something I've always kind of wanted to do, and it was amazing. Wicked is just fabulous and all the cast were insanely incredible. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat and now that I've seen one, I want to see them all (that just reminded of Pokemon - "Catch them all"... don't judge me...).

5. Going on the London Eye - I've done this once before about 11 years ago, although things haven't changed that much it was lovely to experience it again. The weather was perfectly clear and we could see for miles and miles. I would recommend this to anyone going to London who hasn't done it before.

6. Wagamama's - I've wanted to go here for so long, and now I can finally say that I have - and that I loved it. The food is insanely good, and you get a lot of it! The fruit juice is the best thing too, I'll certainly be returning. We went to the one in Leicester Square, so be sure to go there if you're around that area.

7. Going to Lush - I've always been a little intimidated by Lush - not that the staff aren't super inviting and lovely, I just tend to feel a bit suffocated. However, when in London I decided to bite the bullet and have a look around. I even ended up buying a few bits and pieces so expect some posts on those coming very soon! But more importantly I've now fought off that fear - yaya!

8. Compeed Blister patches - seriously, these saved my life. After walking around London my feet were ruined. These helped stop my feet from hurting quite as much. Absolute god-send to give my feet some comfort - heavenly!

9. Clean bed sheets - today I changed my bedding and washed it, I've already made it up and I'm trying to resist the urge to go and relish in its goodness. But, no. I'm going to wait till I'm tired and then relax in the joys of my beautifully clean and lovely smelling sheets. Lets put it this way, I'll not be going to bed late tonight!

10. Reading a lovely romantic book - when I was in London I purchased 'You're the one that I want', by Giovanna Fletcher. I won't talk about it too much because I plan on writing about it as soon as I've finished it - it's a good'un.

(I know this is a couple of days late, but time has just been escaping me lately) xx

A week of happy #2

1. More of you guys! - I might only be small in the grand-scheme of blogging but I'm enjoying having more interactions and twitter friends, it seriously makes my day.

2. Spending time with my grandparents - (I know I said the same thing last week too...), on Tuesday I met up with grandparents and we went out for lunch and did a bit of shopping. I seriously adore them both so much and so any time I get to spend with them is just perfect.

3. Getting a tan - as cliché as it might sound, but when I have a bit of a natural glow I just feel so much more happier when the sun is shining and I can just relax out in the sun with a good book (book review will be coming soon!).

4. Vimto squash - my mums partner loves this stuff and because of that I've started drinking it again. It has a nostalgia that is somewhat similar to Ribena, I've associated such happiness with it and with the warmer weather it is just a lovely refreshing drink.

5. Mellow magic - I have such a soft spot for the radio station Magic - especially they're 'Mellow Magic' section at night time. They play such classic sweet love songs and just ones that give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. I'm listening to it as I type and they're playing 'Adele - Someone Like You' - what a bloody gem!!

6. Planning for London - I've only ever been to London once in my entire life which I just find crazy. It's not even as if it's a million miles away. So next week I'll be off to L-city with my boyfriend for a few days sightseeing and chilling. I'm excited, I feel like I'm going to love it there and like it's going to capture my heart.

7. My bed - I'm not one to spend all day in bed or even have sleep-in till gone midday. But I've just realised how much I love my bed and how comfortable is, and how I adore cuddling into my duvet and watching netflix or youtube on my iPad in bed - it's heavenly.

8. My pyjama bottoms - at the risk of sounding like a complete lazy slob, I love my bottom's from primark. They're so lightweight and comfy. I spend a lot of time in them. I tend to get showered and do whatever I need to do, come home and get back in to them. I know that I'm not the only one!

9. Bridget Jones' Diary on television - these films are my favourite by faaaaaaaaaaar, they're the classic chick-flick and I don't even have them on DVD *cries*. That's why, despite knowing all words probably backwards, I always watch them when they come on TV. Such bliss!

10. Knowing that I've found 9 (kind of 10) things to be happy for this week - last week was certainly more easy than this week, but the whole point of these is to find happiness in the most insignificant of things.
